The learning conversation has been used on ALSG courses since 2007 and has undoubtedly led to an improvement in the feedback we all engage in. To assist instructors’ understanding of some of the concepts behind our approach to feedback, Mike Davis and Kate Denning have written an engaging article about the learning conversation which is available here.

The article guides instructors towards a stance of active listening, thus empowering the learners to articulate and make sense of their experiences during simulations. We would like to encourage instructors to re-visit the thinking behind the learning conversation before teaching on provider courses.
